Adult Summer Reading Programs 2018
Hey, it's not just for the kids! We've got exciting programs coming up this summer; take a look below! Registration is required for most of these programs, so just follow the links to sign up!
Heavy Water: A World War II Turning Point
The Norwegian heavy water sabotage was a series of operations undertaken by Norwegian saboteurs during World War II to prevent the German nuclear weapon project from acquiring heavy water (deuterium oxide), which could have been used by the Germans to produce nuclear weapons. Presented by Peter O. Einset on Thursday, July 5th at 5:30 PM, registration is required.
Kickoff to Summer Fun
Help the Library kickoff a summer of reading, music, entertaining programs, and community! The festivities start at 3 PM on Friday, July 6th and will include an ice cream social on the Library’s terrace, face painting, and scavenger hunts throughout the building for every age group. Attendees receive three chances to “Soak the Staff” by completing the scavenger hunt or making a small donation to the Foundation for the Geneva Public Library. More adventurous guests can volunteer to get soaked themselves!
The Kickoff to Summer Fun is brought to you by Wegmans, and the Foundation for Geneva Public Library.
Join us for a fun evening of Family Feud at the library on July 11th at 5 PM, where two teams face off to name the most popular responses to survey questions. Every player wins and the winning teams play Fast Money for special prizes. Bring your family or friends (limit of 6 people per team) and play as a team or come as an individual or smaller group and be placed on a team. No registration required.
Yoga for EveryBody
Come and enjoy a relaxing yoga session in the library's Reading Room. This session is designed for relaxation and stress relief and is perfect for beginners. Be sure to bring a mat, blanket and bottle of water. Be sure to wear clothing that is comfortable and allows for movement. Please register in advance.
Do you often find yourself going to area coffee houses and restaurants to meet up with your friends? Are you looking for a chance to get out of your house? How about just a place to just relax and socialize? Look no further than the Library Lounge. Come every Wednesday anytime from 11-2. We will provide the coffee, you just need to provide the topic of conversation.
Don't really feel like talking? We have a selection of games and puzzles, as well as a selection of magazines and newspapers. Of course, there is always a great book to read!
