How do I request library help with my research?
Requests may be submitted via phone, email, mail, or by simply filling out our online form. A staff member will contact you within 3-4 days with any questions regarding your request and will respond with the answer to your request within ten business days.

How do I receive the research?
Research can be sent via email or mail. Payment must be made before the research is sent out. A staff member will contact you after the research has been completed to explain the research conducted and the associated fees.

- Our service area includes the counties of Ontario, Wayne, Wyoming, and Livingston in New York State. If you live in one of these counties then we will research your request for free.
- If you do not live in our service area, there will be a fee involved in researching your request.
What are the fees for placing a research request when out of the Library's service area?
The fee for obituary/genealogy research:
- If we are given an accurate date and can find that obituary/birth announcement within a few days surrounding that date, there will be NO CHARGE.
- If we are not given an accurate date or no date is available and we need to expand our search then the fee is as follows:
- $2.50 for the first 15 minutes of research and $5.00 for each additional 15 minutes. Research is capped at 2 hours with a maximum fee of $37.00. If NO information is found the fee will be $5.00.

Payment methods:
- Checks made out to "Geneva Public Library" with "Reference Research" in the memo field.
- Money orders made out to "Geneva Public Library".
- Credit card transactions may be processed over the phone by calling 315-781-2935. Never provide your credit card info on our request form.
- Cash (must be submitted in person at the library).
