Geneva Public Library Board of Trustees Candidates
Ellen Mitchell (Incumbent)
I have served two terms on the Geneva Public Library Board of Trustees and hope to be re-elected. I have been secretary for most of my ten years on the Board and am responsible for recording and providing the meeting minutes. I also serve on the Building Committee and most recently, helped recruit our new library director, Frank Sykes, as part of the search committee.
I have lived in Geneva with my husband, Kevin, for almost 42 years and we raised our twin daughters here. Library visits when our girls were young helped foster their love of reading, which benefited them in many ways. I enjoy the welcoming library atmosphere and appreciate the smart, hard-working staff, many of whom have been there for years.
I am retired from 40+ years in Corporate Communications, mostly with aerospace/defense firms such as United Technologies, Lockheed Martin and L3Harris. I have extensive experience in employee, community and media relations and often served as a company spokesperson. My business acumen, and organizational and communication skills have served me well on the Library Board and as a trustee on the OWWL Board. I also am the chair of our Methodist Church Leadership Team and serve as a lay leader. I value integrity and kindness, dislike drama, and I have a good sense of humor. You may see me walking around town or riding my electric bike for exercise. Thanks, in advance, for your vote!
